In one of the first considerable changes since he took over as the new CEO of TCS, Rajesh Gopinathan has restructured the top management. Tata Consultancy Services, often regarded as the biggest IT services company in India, has restructured the services domain and appointed Krishnan Ramanujam as the president. After the first major reform since 2009, Krishnan Ramanujam will head services domain of TCS and will directly report to Rajesh Gopinathan.
TCS has also reshuffled majority of services heads. This is done in order to offer a bigger pool of digital offerings to clients. All the newly appointed service heads will report to Krishnan Ramanujam.
The latest development comes as one of the major restructure in last few years. Last of these were seen when N Chandrasekaran was appointed as the CEO. N Chandrasekaran has been promoted to lead Tata Sons after Cyrus Mistry.
At a time when big IT firms are looking to increase their offerings in digital services to remain in the game, TCS had a positive news while its digital business grew by over 28% in the last fiscal.
In his statement to ET, Ramanujam termed it a necessary step and added that the restructure will pave way for young leaders to show their abilities and get to the deserved positions. Also, this will expose more departments to the client side and will help them developing skills to benefit themselves and the company in a longer run.
TCS has put together all of the services units under one vertical. Known as Business and Technology services, the vertical will have 3 units under it, named as Cognitive Business operations, Digital Transformation Services and Consulting and Service Integration
