Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poem has been introduced in National council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in a class VIII Hindi textbook, after the government has advise NCERT to find ways of perpetuating his contributions and achievements.
Vasant a Hindi textbook which contains short poems and stories of famous writers and authors like Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, Hazari Prasad Driwedi, Suryakant Tripathi ‘Nirala’, Ismat Chugtai, Harishankar Prasai and many more will now also carry Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Hindi poem ‘Kadam Milakar Chalna Hoga’.
Basically, in the poem there is an appeal to the citizen to walk together, irrespective of difficulties for the betterment of the future.
Till now it’s not even clear that any poem has been removed or not to include the Vajpayee’s poem. The revised textbook will be introduced in March before the new session.
Last Year on August 16, Atal Bihari Vajpayee was died. From then onwards, BJP government is trying to commemorate his contributions and also introducing schemes on his names.
Before the introduction of his poem in Hindi textbook, Vajpayee was only mentioned in one textbook of class 12th Arts, Politics in India Since Independence. But now, Human Resource Department ministry has asked NCERT to explore his contribution, achievements and his years of prime minister-ship
1,334 changes had been done in the first revision of NCERT books which included addition, correction and updates in around 182 textbooks. In it’s second revision of textbook, NCERT aimed to vindicate curriculum to reduce the burden from the students. Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poem is included in this exercise only.
