In seventeen districts of Odisha, Public Sector Undertakings have taken up various projects to upgrade educational facilities, said Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Petroleum Minister on Sunday.
On Sunday, during the inauguration of the main campus of the Skill Development Institute (SDI), Bhubaneswar at Taraboi village in Jatni area, around 35 km away from the state capital, Union Petroleum Minister said, “The dream of new Odisha shall be incomplete without quality education and educational infrastructure.”
Out of 30 districts of the state, in seventeen districts of Odisha PSUs under the ministry of petroleum has taken social responsibility to upgrade educational facilities in those seventeen districts.
Angul, Balasore, Baragarh, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Deogarh, Dhenknal, Jagatsinghpur, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Kendrapada, Khorda, Mayurbhanj, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Puri and Sambalpur are the districts where the educational facailities project has been started.
Minister said, for setting up Skill Development Institutes across the country IOCL, ONGC, GAIL, BPCL, HPCL, OIL, EIL and Balmer Lawrie are some of the oil and gas sectors that have joined hands as a part of skill India programme.
Interests have been shown by reputed employers preferring SDI trainees for the admissions as the students have showcased their best skills and talents by being excellent in their organization.
MoUs were exchanged between SDI, Bhubaneswar and industries supporting Centre of Excellence (CoE) like Schneider Electric, Siemens, KEMPPI, Institute of Chemical Technology & collaboration with ICT for skill development courses and between IndianOil and ITI, Bhubaneswar and ITI, Dashrath (Vadodara) on Dual System of Training.
The Skill Development University is spread over 46 acres of land, it has academic block, administrative building, workshops and other facilities.
