Ayushman Bharat: Mobile app launched for the world’s largest healthcare scheme

Ayushman Bharat also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), is considered to be world’s largest healthcare scheme ever introduced.

According to government figures, over 10 crore people are believed to be benefiting directly or indirectly from this scheme. As of February 1, 2019 more than 10 lakh people have already been benefited from Ayushman bharat scheme.

In the recently announced interim budget of 2019, government has allocated INR 6400 crore for this scheme.

Now, government body has launched a mobile app for this scheme. Created by the National Health Authority (NHA), the app was launched on Tuesday (February 6) by PM-JAY’s CEO Indu Bhushan and has already recorded over 10K installations in two days.

According to officials,

The mobile app was under testing for the last few days and has already reached 10,460 downloads and we expect this to touch a lakh.

Officials have also warned people about various fraudulent apps that are already running claiming to be related to this scheme.

In regarding to this, officials have clarified that,

Google has assured us that once we launch the app, it will ensure through search engine optimization that the app will figure at the top of the list.

Implementation of scheme:

Since the government has announced this scheme, many states have pulled out of this scheme. Mamta Banerjee led West bengal government had decided to keep themselves out of this scheme. Mamta had said that state government would not contribute to this scheme in any way.

Arvind Kejriwal led delhi government has also not given it’s approval for this scheme to roll out in Delhi.

Recently, congress-led chhattisgarh government had also announced that it will keep itself away from this scheme.

There is no doubt that this scheme will benefits millions of under privileged people who will be getting quality healthcare facilities at almost no price. Indian healthcare market stands at $100 Bn, according to IBEF and is expected to touch $280 Bn by 2020, growing at a CAGR of 22.9%.
