District official said on Sunday, Winter vacations in schools in Himachal Pradesh’s state capital Shimla and Multhan’s Sub Tehsil have been extended after heavy snowfall.
Shimla District magistrate said, two days holiday have been extended for the primary as well as for the secondary school students.
Instead of February 11, schools in Shimla District and Multhan’s Sub District will be reopen on February 13, said the District magistrate.
As several roads are still blocked after the heavy snowfall on February 7, the decision has been taken for the winter vacations of the schools as a safety measure, said the District Magistrate.
He added, the work of clearing the roads are still taken in these districts.
Due to heavy snowfall and rain in last few days, roads are badly damaged and in order of this decision has been taken to extend winter vacations in Multhan Sub Tehsil Schools, said Kangra District Magistrate.
On Monday the hill’s of Himachal Pradesh saw partly clouded skies with the Met office forecasting rain and more snow this week.
Even the locals and tourists has been advised by the Manali-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) to take precaution while travelling in high hills, especially tourist resorts in the Manali region, as chances of snow avalanches is high.
The official said the western disturbances–storm systems originating from the Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region–would start in the region from February 12.
