Mumbai Footover Bridge Collapse Live Updates : 2 died, 23 injured


A footover bridge, which connected CST station platform 1 to Azad Maidan police station and times of India building in South Mumbai has collapsed just a few minutes back. Though there is no specific number of casualties, but initial reports are suggesting lose of many lives. The footover bridge is at least 25-30 feet above the ground.

Traffic in the area has been affected and police, along with rescue teams have arrived at the incident place.

Being the peak traffic hour, there was a lot of rush on the spot. The exact cause behind the collapse is still not clear. Police, along with the rescue teams and local volunteers are trying to gather control over the situation right now.

Mumbai police has confirmed that 23 people have been injured in the incident and they have been shifted to nearest Kama Hospital.

Initially, the chaos at the spot caused problems for ambulance to reach the spot and locals had to carry the injured to the road adjacent.

In 2017, a similar footover bridge in Andheri had collapsed where a lot of people had lost their lives. The BMC administration had announced to look into the matter and to repair all the old bridges across Mumbai.

It has just been confirmed that 2 women have lost their lives. Over 20 are in hospital and there are reports that over 15 people are still stuck at the accident spot. Apurva Prabhu, 35 and Ranjana Kamble are the ones who have been confirmed dead in the accident.
