Security withdrawn from Hurriyat leader in Kashmir, “My security is Kashmiri people”,says separatist leader

pulwama attack

In an immediate move by the government of India, against the ‘terrorism’ in Kashmir. The government had debarred the separatist leader’s security cover. The action was taken after the tragically devastating ‘Pulwama Massacre’.

The decision was taken after Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit to Jammu & Kashmir, in the wake of the crises hour. He asserted that many separatist leaders are funded from across the border and hence their security must be reviewed.

He further said that these elements are toying with the future of Kashmiri people, specially the youth.

The top notch Hurriyat leaders whose security is  now being withdrawn are Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Abdul Ghani Bhat, Bilal Ghani Lone, Hashim Qureshi and Shabir Shah. Some of them enjoyed the privilege of y++ security cover.

However, the leaders claim that they need no security cover from the government as they say that Kashmiri people is their security. They also claimed that they previously asked the government to remove the cover and neither did they asked for it. He asserted that this is not an issue for them.

The J&K government issued an order, on 16th February,  not to provide any security cover to the separatists leader and further if they have any facilities provided by the government then they must be withdrawn.

Reacting to the withdrawal of security cover of the separatist leaders, PDP’s Suhail Bukhari said that they are in doubt regarding the rationality of the decision. He further said that there is a committee of senior officials from the intelligence and security department who assess and decide the need of security cover for any individual.
