Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday launched a social media campaign called #emergencyinKarnataka in an effort to put the ruling coalition government in Karnataka under pressure over the arrest and detention of right-wing activist including the journalist who is spreading fake news.
The campaign was launched on Friday afternoon with the hashtag EmergencyinKarnataka.
The campaign was integrated by all the BJP leaders who targeted the Karnataka government for its arrests.
The campaign read, “Dear Karnataka government, arrests of the people in the name of some ridiculed strange act will not help you.” It asked the Karnataka government to focus on governance and do what is needed.
Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Sunil Kumar tweeted emergency in Karnataka and @CMKarnataka saying “Karnataka government HD Kumaraswamy and MB Patil teaches us about freedom of expression every time, on the other hand, there are people who voice their opinion.” The tweet rebuked the Karnataka government as Hippocratic.
The BJP state general Secretary CT Ravi tweeted saying that the Karnataka government was allegedly arresting nationalist and attempting to murder the democracy of the country.
He also tweeted that the Congress and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) coalition has brutally murdered democracy. He said the “people who attempt to divide Hinduism and abuse Hindu on a daily basis are roaming free without getting arrested.”
Congress and JDS are fighting the Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka in an alliance of compulsion after the two have contested against each other in the state assembly polls.
Under the alliance, Congress will contest on 20 seats in Karnataka and JDS will contest on 8 seats respectively.
14 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka witnessed the polling in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 18 and the remaining 14 seats witnessed the Lok Sabha elections in the third phase on April 23.
