BSP chief Mayawati urges voters in Amethi and Rae Bareilly to vote for Congress in fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections

Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati urged the Rae Bareli and Amethi voters on Sunday to vote for Congress in the ongoing fifth phase Lok Sabha elections as the mahagathbandhan has not fielded any candidate from the two seats. She also accused the Prime Minister Narendra Modi of following the divide and rule policy to create adrift in the alliance in Uttar Pradesh.

Making her explanation clear on the alliance with Congress, She said that the only reason for the alliance is to take over BJP and ensure the breakdown of Narendra Modi government. She explained that the gathbandhan did not put up candidates in the two seats to weaken the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and to ensure that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi do not get tied up in campaigning for their own seats here and can concentrate on the rest of the nation.

Previously Prime Minister Modi reminded Mayawati of the betrayal of Samajwadi Party (SP) when it tied with Congress even after promising Mayawati of support as the prime ministerial candidate.

Mayawati alleged Prime Minister to create differences between the alliance BSP-SP-RLD so that they fight among themselves.

For the first time in history, Mayawati is supporting the Congress president Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi and asking her supporters to vote for Congress.

Amethi and Rae Bareilly are Congress bastion. In Amethi, Rahul Gandhi is fighting against Smriti Irani, the BJP leader, and the Union Minister. In Rae Bareilly, it is Sonia Gandhi against Congress turncoat and BJP candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh to contest the elections.

542 parliamentary constituencies in the entire country are witnessing the Lok Sabha elections in 7 phases.
