Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted an aerial survey in Odisha to review the damage after the storm and havoc created by Cyclone Fani that killed over 30 people in the state. He was accompanied by Governor Ganeshi Lal, Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during a survey.
After conducting the survey and being satisfied with the evacuation process and coordination between the center and the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his commendable work.
Prime Minister tweeted that in the middle of the busy election schedule everyone concerned prioritized the cyclone and I must congratulate The state government authorities and those involved in the work had excellent coordination between the central and state government that executed and implemented the safety measures for the people.
After his review, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also uploaded the citizens of Odisha who were patient enough in the hours of distress. He added that most of the times fishermen do not co-operate and leave home reluctant but this time the people of Odisha have shown tremendous cooperation.
The UN agency for disaster reduction also praised the Indian metrological department for the pinpoint accuracy and early warning that helped the government and authority to preplan the situation and evacuation process that helps in regulating almost 1 million people from Odisha to nearly 5000 temporary shelters before the cyclone made landfall in the state on Friday.
Direct creating cyclone one among the strongest to hit India in 20 years travel with the speed of 175 kmph leading to heavy rainfall and coastal flooding in the areas of Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Bangladesh.
The central government has released fund of ₹1,000 crores for the State of Odisha after the cyclone fani hit the state leaving disastrous aftermaths. The previous week the Modi government released around ₹380 crores for the State.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also claims that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee turn down review meeting with Modi and did not receive the calls. However, the West Bengal government denied any such claims.
