Election Commission orders transfer of IPS officer from Sirsa on complaint by Congress ahead of polls

Election Commission of India (ECI) directed the transfer of IPS officer, Rajesh Duggal, from his current district and is ordered to be posted outside Hisar and Sirsa parliamentary constituency in an immediate effect after receiving a complaint from the Congress.

Rajesh Duggal is the IPS commandment 3rd battalion Haryana armed Police in Hisar. His wife Sunita Duggal, retired IRS, is contesting elections on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket from Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

The election commission of India took step after the Congress party submitted the complaint against Rajesh Duggal and claimed that he is allegedly misusing his bureaucratic powers to influence the electoral process in Haryana in the favour of his wife Sunita Duggal. The Congress party demanded that immediate action should be taken on the order of his transfer.

Sunita Duggal is fighting the Lok Sabha elections in Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana against Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar.

In the wake of 17th Lok Sabha elections, there has been speculation in Haryana over Congress and AAP alliance. However, the Alliance failed because of the failures in the mutual agreement between AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Congress president Rahul Gandhi about the shared seats in states of Delhi, Punjab, and Haryana. The alliance would have proven a big blow to BJP as the votes would not have been divided and would have stayed either for or against BJP.

Haryana will go to polls in the 6th phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 12. The results will be announced on May 23.
