Lok Sabha Polls: Delhi police files complaint against man who slapped Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Police on Sunday filed against filed a complaint against the man who allegedly slapped Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during a road show when he was campaigning for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in West Delhi Moti Nagar on Sunday.

The man who slapped, Suresh, has been booked under various sections of the Indian penal code according to the deputy commissioner of police Monika Bhardwaj. He was sent to the two days of judicial custody.

The accused was suspected to be an AAP supporter by the Delhi Police who was satisfied with the behavior of the party leaders. Delhi Police also added that over a period of time Suresh what this in disenchanted due to the behavior of others in his party and his anger intensified due to the distrust of the party in armed forces of India.

The incident took place when Mr. Kejriwal was atop a Jeep and a man wearing a red t-shirt jumped onto the vehicle and slapped Arvind Kejriwal before being pulled off the Jeep.

According to the Delhi Police, the man belongs to the Aam Aadmi Party and was a supporter. He had been an organizer for the road shows and in the campaigning of the party. However, the Aam Aadmi Party leaders said that the Delhi police has planted the man belongs to the party.

Aap spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said that it is really shameful of the Delhi Police given the fact that Suresh’s wife has accepted that Suresh was a Modi Bhakt and was completely against someone who did not like Modi or talked against Modi.

Taking strife on Aam Aadmi Party the police spokesperson said, “Delhi Police is a professional force and hence leveling the charges against the Delhi Police is incorrect.” He added that the Delhi Police provide security to multiple political leaders in the utmost professional manner.

The roadshow for Aam Aadmi Party was organized from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. in West Delhi Moti Nagar. The roadshow was conducted in the supervision of populous arrangement from both security unit and local police.

After the incident, he was immediately saved from the educated supporters and was taken for medical treatment. Later on, the roadshow started as per the schedule.

Lok Sabha polls in Delhi are scheduled to be held in the 6th phase of elections on May 12. The results for the elections will be announced on May 23.
