Mamata Banerjee cancels all rallies for 48 hours in the wake of Odisha Cyclone; Rahul Gandhi asks party workers to support people in Odisha


In the wake of severe cyclonic storm fani that has hit the coast of Odisha on Friday morning, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee canceled all public rallies for the next 48 hours.

Chief Minister also directed Odisha state authorities to monitor the situation from Midnapore that is a coastal district of West Bengal. Ahead of the cyclonic Storm the West Bengal government also has announced an alert in the coastal East Midnapore and south 24 Parganas district. The West Bengal government has asked the tourist to leave the seaside destinations and directed the fisherman not to venture into the coastal areas as cyclone fani moved closer to the State.

The West Bengal government has also asked the schools to stay close and locals to move to safer places and stay braced for the extremely severe cyclonic storm.

Amidst the severe cyclonic storms in Odisha, Congress president Rahul Gandhi has also filled with party workers in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal to win the people in the neighborhood about cyclone Fani and help the people who are in need in the hours of distress.

The cyclone in Odisha entered at Puri around 8:00 a.m. in the morning and will take around 3 hours for the entire landfill process to be completed. The cyclone is moving at the speed of 30 kmph.

Approximately 11 lakh people have been executed from the low lying areas of 11 coastal districts and have been accommodated in over 4000 shelters including the 800 specially designed cyclone centers. So far no casualty has been reported from any part of the state.
