After Rahul Gandhi postponed his visit to Amethi on the day of polling, the Amethi candidate from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Smriti Irani lashed out at Congress President saying that he has insulted the people of Amethi and has no seriousness for people here. She rebuked Rahul Gandhi and said that he has become egoistic.

Responding to union minister and BJP leader, Congress MLC Deepak Singh said that Smriti Irani is losing her temper because she can see herself losing. He added that her frustrations and allegations are a clear representation of the people’s mandate in favor of Congress. “People of Amethi told Rahul Gandhi to take care of the country and they shall take care of themselves. This is the reason why he did not come to Amethi on the day of polling,” Deepak Singh explained Rahul’s canceled visit to Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.

Lashing out at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Smriti Irani said that” he should not have insulted the people of his constituency. The person who can lie on the matter of tours is not trustworthy.”

Previously, Smriti Irani alleged Rahul Gandhi of booth capturing in the constituency wherein she tweeted a video of the lady who claimed that she was forced by an official to put her finger on Congress button and cast the vote for Congress.

She made out remarks that Rahul Gandhi is always using slogan Chowkidaar Chor hai against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but he himself is using malicious ways to win the elections by stealing votes and forcing the people.

Amethi has been a Congress bastion and Rahul Gandhi has been winning the seat since 2004. Smriti Irani and Rahul Gandhi contested the 16th Lok Sabha elections in which Rahul Gandhi defeated Smriti Irani by a margin of over one lakh votes.

Amethi has witnessed polls on Monday, May 6 in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The remaining two phases will be held on May 12 and May 19. The results for the elections will be announced on May 23.
