Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP A.P. Jithender Reddy joined BJP on Wednesday in New Delhi in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah after he was denied ticket from his party for upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The development took place after the TRS leader negotiated with BJP general secretary Ram Madhav over the phone call on Tuesday.
Jithender while reporting to ANI mentioned, “I have come back to my previous party because TRS did not provide me with the ticket for Lok Sabha elections”.
Telangana Rashtra Samiti dropped Reddy following the allegations by some party candidates noticing his ignorance in cooperating with the party members owing to recent elections.
The TRS leader’s late arrival in BJP will keep him off the ticket from Mahbubnagar because the party has already given the ticket to Congress leader D.K. Aruna.
D.K. Aruna, Congress leader was inducted into the party last week in presence of BJP chief Amit Shah, National General Secretary Ram Madhav, Union Minister JP Nadda. She is a three-time MLA from Gadwal. She was a minister during YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s term. She later served as Information Minister in Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government.
Jithender Reddy was a BJP leader and was elected to Lok Sabha from Mahabubnagar on the BJP ticket in 1999. He later quit BJP to join TRS when Telangana movement was at its peak. In 2014 he was elected from the same constituency at the TRS ticket.
April 11 will have Telangana polls for the 17 Lok Sabha seats.
