Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday that he is ready to support Congress chief Rahul Gandhi as a prime ministerial candidate if Congress party promises to endorse full statehood for Delhi.
Promising the full statehood for Delhi in his election manifesto, Arvind Kejriwal said that the anti-corruption programme, women safety, and other development would be at ease if Delhi gets full a statehood.
In an exclusive interview with CNN news 18 Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister indicated that the whole purpose of 2019 elections is to defeat Narendra Modi and break the Modi-Shah duo. He added that he would do anything to break the BJP government.
Kejriwal said that his support for the Prime Minister candidate will be based on the Delhi statehood demand. He also added that Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee can also be a probable Prime Ministerial candidate
While giving his interview Kejriwal said that “I cannot love someone who plays with the constitution encourages lynching and riots.”
Following the demand for full statehood, he said that he has no interest in becoming the Prime Minister and he will support any government who promises full statehood for Delhi.
He also hinted that he will support Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for prime minister but would not let Modi or Amit Shah come to power.
The seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will go to polls in the 6th phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 12. The election’s results will be announced on May 23.
