German footwear brand Birkenstock made its India entry through online route and will soon start selling its products on the brand’s official website in the country.

The brand believes that Indian market will be one of the five most important markets for the brand its growth within the next five years.

The footwear company will also partner with other e-commerce platforms and open several brand outlets in future. Birkenstock’s first offline store in the country is scheduled to open early next year in the Delhi-NCR region.

Commenting on the idea, Oliver Reichert CEO of the Birkenstock Group stated, “It’s precisely the right time for us to enter the Indian market. A booming, brand-compatible retail environment meets strong consumer demand for genuine quality.”

The German brand has set up an India entity which will serve as a wholesaler and distributor of the brand to different retail store partners in the country. The products will be imported from the company’s manufacturing facilities in Germany.

“We expect India to become one of the five most important markets for Birkenstock within the next few years since we offer the perfect products for the current spirit of the times and lifestyle in this country,” concluded Reichert.
