French luxury goods company Kering appointed Mehdi Benabadji as CEO of Brioni, menswear couture house owned by the brand, effective January 1, 2020.

Being held a series of operational and executive positions within Kering since 2003, this journey would not be a complete new experience for Benabadji. He also acted as the Director of Strategy and Development of the House for Brioni after its acquisition by Kering in 2011.

To strengthen the repositioning of Brioni and support its international development Benabadji will take over the position from Fabrizio Malverdi and will report to Jean-François Palus, Group Managing Director of the luxury brand.

Kering in a statement said that Malverdi decided to step down as the CEO to pursue a career outside the group. “Kering would like to thank him warmly for his commitment and his contribution as CEO of Brioni in recent years,” added the firm.

Earlier in November, Albert Bensoussan, chief executive officer of watches and jewelry at Kering’s also stepped down from his post to pursue personal projects outside the company.
