Google’s philanthropic side is known to all and to manifest it, even more, Google has launched Bolo – a new language learning app for children in India by using technology like Google’s speech recognition and text-to-speech .
India a land where the literacy rate is 74.04% and where students in rural area of class 5 are not able to read confidently textbooks of class 2 according to ASER 2018 report.It shows the darker side of our country.
In order to uplift and ehance the current scenerio google comes up to the resue by introducing BOLO app in rural areas which helps students to read in Hindi and English.The app also comes up with a tutor named Diya,who helps in reading , correcting and ecnouraging the students .There are 50 stories in Hindi and 40 in English, sourced from Storyweaver.org.in.As student show progress ,rewards and badges are given to them to motivate them and make them belief in themselves.
The number of smart phone users in india is approxmialtely 337 millions as the country continues to come online to become one of the largest internet markets in the world and also wants to be acknowdelged by Digital india ,google has provided best platform to the country.The company said it would not collect any data of children through the app and it would not have any advertisement to prevent children from distraction.
The app is available now on the Google Play Store in India, and works on Android smartphones running Android 4.4 (Kit Kat) and higher.The app works offline — a necessity in large parts of India. The app can be used by multiple children, as well, and will adjust itself to their own reading levels.As google wants to give its best in all possible ways.
