Costume Designer Rahul Mishra is all set to mark Indian fashion’s footprint at Haute Couture Week in Paris. Said to be the first from India to join the calendar, the designer has been invited by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture committee to showcase at Paris Fashion Week in January 2020 for spring couture.
Commenting on the milestone Mishra said, “I am elated and humbled to be invited as a ‘guest member’ to showcase Haute Couture at the Paris Fashion Week. It is found to be an opportunity of great creative freedom to be able to celebrate our own definition of couture in liberation from the concept of trends.”
According to the reports of fashion network Mishra is one of the three new names added to the calendar to show their Spring/Summer 2020 collections at the haute couture week including French designer Julie de Libran and Cameroon-born designer Imane Ayissi.
“I find joy in the enigmatic blurring of boundaries between fashion, art and poetry and am thrilled to share it with the world through this collection.I am grateful for having reached this important milestone in our journey which will only enrich our brand and enable us in bringing forward the better of ourselves,” elaborated Mishra.
Also known as the first Indian designer to win the 2014 International Woolmark Prize, Mishra in July presented a collection at Paris Fashion Week for fall 2019 couture.
